A central verse presented to “Mrs. Maria L. Flint of Monson” surrounded by a floral border and surmounted by three angels. In a period frame, 10.5” high, 14” wide overall.
The verse is a variation of the poem “Welcome Winter” that appeared in an 1835 issue of the American Magazine of Useful and Entertaining Knowledge (published in Boston).
There are New England towns called Monson: one in Hampden County, Massachusetts and another in Piscataquis County, Maine.
